CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Wofford junior Cassie Rex netted the first three goals of her career leading the Terriers to their first Southern Conference victory of the season with a 4-2 win at Chattanooga Friday evening at the North River Soccer Complex in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Rex, who recently was moved to forward after starting her career as a defender and midfielder, tallied the hat trick against the Lady Mocs on her only three shots of the game.

Wofford (2-7-4, 1-3-1 SoCon) only led 1-0 at the half, but it came on a corner kick goal by Rex at 26:35. Her low shot from the corner bounced in front of the Chattanooga net but never touched anyone else for either team on its way into the goalframe.

Junior Monica Ploetzke then fed freshman Maggie McLaughlin at 49:50 as the Terriers built a two-goal advantage shortly after the second half started.

Less than a minute later, at 50:48, the Lady Mocs countered when D.K. Henry broke up sophomore goalkeeper Katie McChesney's shutout attempt on a pass from Chelsea Hurst. Henry then knotted the scoring at 54:25 on an unassisted score on a shot from 25 yards out.

Wofford, however, would not be denied and Rex added her first tally of the second half at 60:50 on an assist from classmate Erika Bishop.

Rex closed the scoring with one final goal at 87:16 on a Penalty Kick past Chattanooga (4-9-1, 1-4 SoCon) goalie Allie Preston.

The Boone, N.C., native led the Terriers with three of the team's six shots. McLaughlin, senior Mary Rea and junior Blair Green also had attempts towards the Lady Moc net.

Henry paced the hosts with six shots, including three on goal. Hurst added a pair and Morgan Shelton had the team's other shot.

McChesney registered one save in playing the full 90 minutes. Preston collected two stops for Chattanooga and also played the entire contest.

Wofford will return to action when it hosts SoCon newcomer at 2 p.m. Sunday at Snyder Field.
