On Saturday, November 1, Wofford College will host the 2008 Southern Conference Cross Country Championships at Milliken Park in Spartanburg. Student-athletes from the league’s 12 member institutions will compete beginning with the women’s championship at 10:00 a.m. The men’s championship will follow at approximately 10:45 a.m.
In conjunction with the event, Wofford Sports Marketing is hosting a special free event for children age 12 and under – the “Sugar Rush Kids Fun Run.” This special relay race will give area children an opportunity expend sugar energy collected the previous evening from Halloween trick-or-treating. The race will take place within site of the championship course.
“This is an opportunity for area families to come out and support the student-athletes from around the SoCon and take part in a free event that promotes active living and healthy snack choices,” said Wofford assistant athletic director Lenny Mathis.
Wofford Sports Marketing is looking for volunteers to help coordinate the event. If you are interested, please call 864-597-4110 or e-mail mathisld@wofford.edu. Pre-registration for the children is not required. Registration for children who wish to participate will be held on the site of the SoCon Cross Country Championships at Milliken Park from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, November 1.
