SPARTANBURG, S.C.- Hosting the 2008 Southern Conference Championships at Milliken Park, the Wofford men’s and women’s cross country teams placed in the 11th and 12th spots, respectively. On the men’s side Appalachian State repeated as SoCon Champion as did Chattanooga on the women’s side.

Senior Josh Shumaker led the Terrier men coming in with a time of 27:47, good enough for the 68th position. The next Terrier across the line in the 71stspot was junior Bryan Brooks with a time of 27:53. Justin Hunter set a new personal record by nearly 30 seconds to finish 78th with a time of 28:15.    Mavrick Harris and Paul Vecchione were the final two in for the Terriers with times of 29:15 and 29
:31, placing them in the 85th and 86th position.

On the women’s side, Kari Harris was the first Terrier across the line with a time of 20:58 placing her in the 83rd spot. Pearce Tapp followed in behind Harris in the 85th position with a time of 21:12. Finishing third for the Terriers and 87th overall was Justina Oliva with a time of 21:27. Freshman Caroline Burdette ran the course in 21:42 good enough for the 91st position. Cindy Hernandez and Morgan Mickalis were the final two Terriers across the line in the 94th and 95th spots with times of 21:57 and 22:02.

On Saturday November 1, Wofford will host the 2008 Southern Conference Cross Country Championships in Spartanburg, S.C., at Milliken Park. The women's 5k meet (3.1 miles) is slated to start at 10 a.m., while the men will follow at 10:45 a.m. in the 8k (4.8 miles) race.
