NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Wofford junior point guard Liz Miller was recognized as a member of the All-Southern Conference Tournament Second Team it was announced Monday night following the conclusion of the SoCon Tournament in North Charleston, S.C.
Miller, the only Terrier representative on the first or second teams and only player not among the final four teams in the event, helped lead Wofford to an opening-round 57-50 victory over Upstate rival Furman March 6. The Terriers then bowed out of the event with a quarterfinal loss to eventual runner-up Western Carolina with a 78-61 loss March 7.
During the two-game run, Miller averaged 14.0 ppg with a game-high of 18 against Western Carolina. The State College, Pa., native added nine rebounds, eight assists and four steals while hitting 10-of-18 field goal attempts, including three 3-pointers.
She was the only Terrier to start all 31 games this season and led the squad with 361 points (11.6 ppg). Her totals for field goals made and attempted, 3-pointers made and attempted, free throws made and attempted, assists and steals also were tops among all Wofford players.
The 97 steals she swiped are a single-season school record and paced the Southern Conference. She tallied 107 assists, becoming the first Terrier to top the century mark since Jessica Ridgill's 101 in 2000-01.
Miller will enter her final campaign in a Wofford uniform with 253 career steals, 30 shy of tying the school record set by Libby Corry from 1991-95.
Since the Terriers entered the Southern Conference in 1997-98, she is the fifth Wofford player to receive the honor, joining Meredith Denton (1997-98), Jenny Nett (2001-02), Natalie Walsh (2001-02) and Ricaye Harris (2002-03).
