DUE WEST, S.C. -- Former Wofford women's basketball standout Jessica Ridgill has been selected as the next head coach at Erskine, according to the school in a statement released Tuesday March 11. Ridgill, who has been a part of the Flying Fleet program for the past five seasons as the assistant coach, takes the reigns from Maggie Peeler, who resigned last month after coaching Erskine for the last eight years.
Ridgill, a 2002 Wofford graduate, ranks second in Terrier history with 387 career assists. Her 13 assists against Davidson Feb. 21, 2000, are still the most in a single game in program history.
She led the Terriers in helpers her final three seasons, from 1999-2000 to 2001-02. Her 101 assists in 2000-01 stood as the last total to top the century mark by a Wofford player until Liz Miller registered 107 this season.
Ridgill played in 113 career games for the Terriers, scoring 258 points and adding 214 rebounds throughout her four seasons.
The Flying Fleet posted a 4-23 record this past season, but had won 17 games during the 2004-05 and 2005-06 campaigns under Peeler.
