FLORENCE, S.C. -- The Wofford men's golf team concluded its 2007-08 campaign with an eighth-place result out of 10 schools at the Southern Conference Championship at The Country Club of South Carolina in Florence, S.C., Tuesday.

The Terriers fired a 306-289-309--904 (+40) to finish 39 shots behind the winner, No. 12 Chattanooga, who posted a 1-over par 865 to win the event by eight strokes over College of Charleston.

Western Carolina's Matt Cook, who was tied for 21st after the opening round, turned in a pair of sub-par efforts during the next 36 holes to claim medalist honors with a 5-under par 211. He was one of three individuals to finish under par, as UNC Greensboro's Nathan Stamey and Chattanooga's Ben Rickett each tied for second at 1-under par.

Junior Drew Perry was the top Terrier individual with a seventh-place tying 73-70-75--218 (+2). He was one of five players to round out the top 10 by shooting 218.

Sophomore Garrett Medeiros matched his opening round score and garnered a 14th-place tying 74-72-74--220 (+4). His classmate, Mike McKenzie, tied for 24th after registering a 74-71-80--225 (+9).

Senior John Gault, a late addition to the Wofford traveling squad for the tournament, tied for 46th after posting an 85-76-80--241 (+25). Freshman Rob Gorrell was the final Terrier in the contingent as he continued to improve his scores each round and recorded an 85-82-81--248 (+32) to place 50th.

The Mocs will advance to the NCAA Regionals as the Southern Conference's automatic bid participant.
