Spartanburg, S.C. -- Season and group tickets packages for the 2008 Wofford College football season are now on-sale. The 2007 Southern Conference Champions will welcome five opponents to Gibbs Stadium this season.
Ticket pricing and information
Reserved seat season tickets remain one of college football's best values at only $100/seat. Individual game tickets are $20 for adults in both reserved and general admission areas. Tickets for children age 12 and under are $10 in the general admission sections. Ages 2 and under are admitted free.
Season ticket holders will find a freshly re-designed ticket brochure in the mail this week and fans may pick up ticket brochures at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium Box Office and at Ben Wofford Books (both on Church Street) during normal business hours. The Athletic Ticket Office will welcome visitors to pick up ticket information and purchase tickets upon the completion of the renovations to the Richardson Building later this summer. Until then, please call 864-597-4090 for with questions or to be mailed information. Game times for the 2008 season are still tentative pending word on television coverage of several contests.
Once again, group discounts will be available for churches, youth organizations, corporations and civic organizations purchasing 20 or more tickets. Group leaders will receive a free Wofford t-shirt and each group will be recognized on the Gibbs Stadium scoreboard during the 2nd quarter. Also new this year, there is the opportunity for groups (30-60 persons) to reserve an area at the new TerrierLand Tailgate Zone. Space is limited. For complete details call 864-597-4090.
2008 Schedule Notes
The home slate begins Labor Day Weekend with an August 30 date against the Presbyterian Blue Hose. At the half, the newest class of Terriers to be inducted into the Wofford Athletic Hall of Fame will be recognized as will members of the 2003 and 2007 Southern Conference Champion football teams.
Following trips to Charleston Southern (Sept. 6), South Carolina (Sept. 20) and Georgia Southern (Sept. 27) and a pair of open dates (Sept. 6 and Oct. 4), the Terriers return to Gibbs Stadium on October 11 to face the Chattanooga Mocs for Homecoming.
The 8th Annual Youth Football Celebration will commence the following week (Oct. 18) as the Western Carolina Catamounts come to town. Youth football players and cheerleaders from around the area are reminded to mark your calendars for this special day as the kids take over the national anthem, pre-game and halftime festivities. There will also be special incentives for children to attend this contest as part of the NCAA's "Take a Kid to the Game" campaign. This will also mark Cherokee County Day presented by The Cherokee Chronicle.
The Terriers hit the road for Elon on Oct. 25 and a nationally-televised (ESPN2) Halloween Night affair at Appalachian State (Oct. 31) before the next home game on November 8 against The Citadel. This will mark our annual UMYF GameDay as well as Family Weekend across campus. This will also be the sixth renewal of "The Beacon Iced Tea Bowl" which occurs each time the Bulldogs visit the Terriers. The 2008 contest will mark the 10th Anniversary of the first Beacon Iced Tea Bowl in 1998. The East Rutherford High School band from Forest City, N.C. is scheduled to perform at the half.
The Terriers will visit new Southern Conference member Samford in Birmingham on November 15 before returning for Senior Day against Furman on November 22.
