SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The Wofford men's and women's soccer teams, along with volleyball, are set to return to campus beginning Friday and continuing through Tuesday in preparation for their respective 2008 campaigns.
The women's soccer squad, under the guidance of 10th-year head coach Amy Kiah, was the first team to report. Kiah's Terrier team began preseason practices Friday afternoon at Snyder Field. Wofford returns six starters from a year ago. The Terriers will begin their season Aug. 22 at North Carolina State in Raleigh, N.C.
First-year head coach Ralph Polson will guide the Wofford men's soccer team this fall. A former assistant at fellow Southern Conference foe College of Charleston, Polson is charged with leading the Terriers who return nine starters. Wofford will open its slate August 29 at Presbyterian before the home opener two days later against ETSU.
Corey Helle returns to the Terrier volleyball sidelines for his seventh season. Wofford will welcome all six starters plus libero back to the fold this fall. The Terriers hit the court for preseason practice early next week before opening the season Aug. 29 versus South Dakota in Hampton, Va., as part of the Tiny Laster Memorial Tournament.
