Wofford students and fans will have the opportunity to get a first look at the 2009-10 Terrier men’s and women’s basketball teams at the “Terrier Tip-off Party” this Friday, October 16 inside the Benjamin Johnson Arena. Admission is free, open to the public and the event is slated for 8:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. All fans 17 and older will be issued a ticket upon entering the building. Three lucky fans will have their ticket number called to participate in an on-court shooting contest for a prize valued at $15,000!
The “Tip-off Party” will be tied into the Terrier Club’s Letterman’s Weekend festivities. The event will include special exhibitions by former Terrier men’s and women’s basketball players, a performance by the Wofford cheerleaders, a three-point shooting contest featuring four members of both the men’s and women’s teams, 10-minute exhibition games by both the men’s and women’s basketball teams plus a special co-ed scrimmage with members of both the Terrier men’s and women’s teams playing together.
The concept behind the “Tip-off Party” is to provide students and fans an opportunity to see the basketball teams in a fun, laid-back atmosphere similar to “midnight madness.” From a promotions standpoint, this will be unlike a normal game night – essentially, what the rules won’t allow at a basketball game. Look for music during play, promotional items tossed into the stands during play and other surprises.
