SPARTANBURG, S.C. – At the end of the 2009 summer collegiate baseball season, the Terriers had three players on teams that won league titles. Mac Doyle and Konstantine Diamaduros won the Coastal Plains League championship with Forest City, while James Foster won the Texas Collegiate League title with Coppell.

The Forest City Owls won five straight games in the CPL playoffs to capture the franchise’s first Petitt Cup. In the doubleheader played on Friday, August 14, the Owls won the first game 5-1. In the second game, a 5-1 win earned the Owls the championship. Konstantine Diamaduros started both games as the designated hitter and had one hit. Mac Doyle did not play in either game of the championship series. Diamaduros led the league in hitting during the season with a .375 batting average.

Forest City, the number one ranked summer collegiate baseball team in the country by Perfect Game Crosschecker, is expected to become the first CPL team in history to win a national title when the final poll of the summer is announced this week.

In the first game of the Texas Collegiate Baseball League Championship on Thursday night, the Coppell Copperheads won 5-3 over the Victoria Generals as James Foster had one hit and an RBI. In the second game on Friday, Foster batted lead-off and had one hit as the team defeated the Generals 13-11. The victory marked the third time in the last six years that Coppell has won the title. Foster led the league in stolen bases during the summer with seventeen.
