SPARTANBURG, S.C. – As the summer winds down, many Wofford baseball players are also coming to the end of the wooden bat summer league season. Among the highlights during the summer season for the Terriers included four players being named All-Stars and Konstantine Diamaduros winning the CPL batting title.

In the Coastal Plains League, John Cornely has posted a 1.31 ERA for the Outer Banks Daredevils. He has 14 saves in 20 appearances and a 0-1 record in 20.2 innings pitched. Opponents are hitting only .134 against Cornely as he has 29 strikeouts. For the Forest City Owls, Konstantine Diamaduros is hitting .375, which leads the team and was first in the league. He has 57 hits, 37 runs scored and 45 RBIs along with four home runs in 49 games played. Diamaduros earned league player of the week honors twice this season as the team set a record with 43 wins. Mac Doyle has seen action in 25 games with a .171 batting average. Doyle has 13 hits and only one error in 111 putouts. Playoff games for both teams begin this week.

Out in the Hawaii Collegiate Baseball League, Drew Sheridan was named to the All-Star team as a member of the Kauai Menehunes. In 20.0 innings pitched, Sheridan had a 1.80 ERA with a 3-1 record and four saves to lead the team. David Roney has played in 26 games with 19 starts for the Hawaii Aliis and has a .183 batting average with 13 hits and seven RBI. He had a .301 on-base percentage.

Michael McDonnell played for Peekskill in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League and started 22 of 23 games played with a .269 batting average with 21 hits and eight RBI. In the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League, J.D. Osborne had an 8.38 ERA and a 0-2 record for the Stark County Terriers in eight appearances.

James Foster is playing for the Coppell Copperheads in the Texas Collegiate League. In 39 games and one week remaining in the season, he is hitting .320 with 25 runs scored, 41 hits and eight RBI. Foster leads the league with 15 stolen bases. He earned player of the week honors on July 12 after batting .688 (11-for-16) in the Copperheads’ five games. Kyle Behrendt played with the Battle Creek Bombers of the Northwoods League. In thirteen games, he batted .237 with nine hits and six RBIs.

Alex Lee played with the North Shore Navigators of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. He played in thirteen games with four hits and a .143 batting average as he was limited due to injury.

In the Southern Collegiate Baseball League, Josh McKinney hit .274 in 29 games for the Spartanburg Blue Eagles. He had 23 hits and eleven RBI. Neil Robinette, also with the Blue Eagles, had a .200 batting average along with four home runs. Mason Bradley posted a 3.32 ERA for Lake Norman. In eight appearances he had a 1-1 record.

Cash Collins went 3-1 on the season with the Carolina Chaos. He had a 3.63 ERA and 37 strikeouts with only 17 walks to earn a spot on the All-Star Team. Collins has joined the Florence Redwolves in the Coastal Plains League for the playoffs and has played in two games with a 3.38 ERA and a 0-1 record in 8.0 innings pitched with eight strikeouts and only five runs allowed.

In the pro ranks, Brandon Waring has played in 105 games at first base for the Frederick Keys, a Class-A Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. After making an appearance as a Carolina League All-Star, Waring is hitting .273 on the season with 105 hits, 56 runs scored, 67 RBI and a team-best 18 home runs.

Michael Gilmartin has played in 31 games for the Vancouver Canadians, a Class-A short season affiliate of the Oakland A’s in the Northwest League. At shortstop, he is hitting .264 with 28 hits, 16 runs scored and eleven RBIs.
