Partnership between Athletics and Wofford Campus Ministry

In a partnership between Wofford Sports Marketing and Wofford Campus Ministry, Terrier alumni, fans and area business leaders will again have an opportunity to give those less fortunate the chance to enjoy a college football atmosphere.

"The 1st Down" is a program whereby individuals or corporations can send a group of 10 or more to see a Wofford football game.  For a minimum $100 donation, nine children and one chaperone will be given general admission tickets and a Wofford t-shirt.  Those who wish to make a larger donation, may do so in increments of five ($150 = 15 person group, etc.).

This ticket donation program began in 2007 for the NCAA play-off game and continued through last season.  In 2009, the program will be in place for all five home Wofford football games, beginning with the September 12 contest against Charleston Southern at 7:00 p.m.

“The First Down program gives many youngsters their first exposure to a college campus and encourages them as they move ahead in life. We hope that College will become a place these young people will want to visit again and again, and that their time at the game will inspire them to set their sights on attending college in the future,” said Perkins-Prothro chaplain and professor of religion Ron Robinson.

To participate in The 1st Down program by making a $100 donation or more, call Wofford Campus Ministry at (864) 597-4050.

If you are a member of an area non-profit organization and would like to learn more about how to take part in the program, contact Lindy Bunch in the Wofford Campus Ministry office at the number noted above.
